Regional Physical Activity Alliance

This is the page for the East of England Regional Physical Activity Alliance coordinated by the Department of Health. Individuals and organisations from all sectors involved in physical activity and play are encouraged to be a part of the Alliance.
The regional physical activity alliance is a group which is open to all PA practitioners, strategists, commissioners and deliverers. It was launched in February 2009, with the first meeting on 3rd April 2009. Meetings are held quarterly with objectives including (but not exclusive to):
- promoting a networking opportunity
- encouraging implementation of Be Active Be Healthy
- sharing information and good practice
- providing an opportunity to address any barriers identified in promoting good practice
- unlocking the potential of physical activity in practice-based commissioning
- using 2012 as a catalyst

The Chair of the Alliance is Martin Corck. Martin is founder and Managing Director of Creating Excellence, a marketing company based in Essex operating in the sport and health promotion sectors. Martin has a wealth of experience in the sports sector embracing teaching, public sector leisure, consultancy and representation of national sports figures. He has engaged in numerous high profile projects and campaigns including Sport Relief, Sporting Champions, Sportsmark/Activemark and in 2005 managed the Year of the Volunteer campaign on behalf of the sports sector. In 2006 he brought Fit for Business into the market in direct response to the ‘Health of the Nation’ debate. Martin has served on a number of regional bodies, including the East Region Sports Board, and as a former PE teacher he remains passionate about helping people achieve a balanced lifestyle in a range of formal and informal physical activities. In his personal life, Martin has moved from being a competitive cricketer and rugby player, into being an avid golfer and walker.
