Regional 2012 health and wellbeing theme group
The next meeting will take place on 27th January 2011 at the Government Offices in Cambridge.
The regional 2012 health and wellbeing theme group is part of the Nations and Regions East (NRE) structure supporting the NRE Executive and NRE Board in its aims and objectives related to securing a legacy from the 2012 Games. Details of the full structure can be found on the Rising to the Challenge East of England regional 2012 website.
The health and wellbeing theme was launched earlier in 2009, with the first meeting in April 2009 and subsequent quarterly meetings. The overall theme aim is:
- To ensure a sustainable health legacy with benefits beyond the 2012 Games (to include production, implementation and evaluation).
The theme's strategic objective is: Improving health and wellbeing by:
- Increasing adult participation in physical activity for physical and mental health
- Halting the rise in childhood obesity
- Increasing cross sector working and the contribution of other themes to health and wellbeing, specifically mental health and inclusion
