Older People

Lead analyst: Doris Hain

For the first time, in 2007 the number of people of state pensionable age in the United Kingdom was greater than the number of children under 16. The age group 100 years and older is the fastest growing one. With rising numbers, issues related to older people's health are also growing in size and importance. The spectrum of topics is wide: It reaches from access to social care to health service provision, from specific age-related conditions, mental health issues to general quality of life, from deprivation to life style.

On this topic page we try to provide access to some of the most relevant resources, data and links closely related to old age. Of particular interest are local and regional information.

Erpho is currently preparing Health profiles for older people which are going to be published in autumn 2009. Indicator data and profiles are going to be made accessible on this website.
