Visualising data in maps can help turning information into intelligence. In erpho we intend to provide as much suitable data as possible also in this format and we are constantly adding new maps and atlases to the list.

Our map resources are available either as pictures (=static maps) or as interactive atlases. The interactive atlases use SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics). To view these files you need an SVG Reader which can be downloaded free of charge from the Adobe website.

Static maps can be printed off easily and usually do not cause technical problems. Interactive atlases can present much more data and allow users to:

  • Chart and map a range of indicators in a range of formats
  • Zoom in and out to your area(s) of interest
  • Filter geographical areas
  • Explore trends over time (single atlas)
  • Explore the relationships between indicators (double atlas)

To print a map from our interactive atlases:

  • Right click on the atlas and choose Copy SVG
  • Open a word document, and go to Edit > Paste Special
  • Choose Device Independent Bitmap and click OK
  • You can then crop the image as desired. Please note that any maps obtained in this way can only be reproduced if they include the copyright information

PLEASE NOTE:
Some atlases process large amounts of data and may take a few moments to download or respond. Thank you for your patience.

Copyright

All the SVG boundaries are based on digital boundaries obtained from Ordnance Survey and are subject to Crown Copyright. You are allowed to print one copy of each image for reference purposes only. The making of multiple copies, the usage of the images for other than reference purposes and any attempt to extract the vector map data are all illegal and infringe Crown Copyright.

If you wish to use any of the SVG maps in a report of any kind you should obtain a Paper Map Copying Licence from Ordnance Survey. Please follow this link: http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/business/copyright/purpose/internaluse.html. The licence will cost around £50.- and will be valid for a year. Please note that our maps can never be used for profit and you should always ensure that the copyright statement is clearly visible.

We have been given kind permission by Ordnance Survey to run this SVG Atlas as a Pilot under the Pan Government Agreement. Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) are a way of displaying maps and other images which enable the development of powerful tools for users to interact with information and data in a way which was previously not possible. The erpho SVG Health Atlas delivers a variety of key health statistics in a user-friendly single page combining table, choropleth map and bar chart. The Elements on each page are linked so that, for instance, moving a mouse over a legend class highlights all the areas within that class in the table, map and chart.
