Interactive maps and charts enable comparisons to be made regionally and nationally across a range of indicators relating to teenage pregnancy, abortions, contraception, sexually transmitted infections and other relevant issues. This toolkit is supported as best practice by the Department of Health and the aim is to provide a key source of sexual health information for public health, commissioning and performance management colleagues at a local, regional and national level.

The Review followed the publication of the global Commission on Social Determinants of Health, also chaired by Sir Michael Marmot and published by the WHO. The CSDH advocated that national governments develop and implement strategies and policies suited to their particular national context aimed at improving health equity. The English review is a response to that recommendation and to the government's commitment to reducing health inequalities in England.
The aim of the Review was to propose an evidence based strategy for reducing health inequalities from 2010. The strategy includes policies and interventions that address the social determinants of health inequalities.

This report presents the latest data on male and female health expectancy at birth and at age 65 for the UK and its constituent countries. Life expectancy provides an estimate of average expected lifespan, Healthy Life Expectancy
(HLE) divides life expectancy into good or ill health. Similarly Disability-Free Life Expectancy (DFLE) divides life expectancy into years lived without and without chronic illness or disability. Estimates are derived from the results of the GB General Household Survey (GHS) and Northern Ireland’s Continuous Household Survey (CHS).

The (SPOT) has been updated with the 2008/9 programme budgeting data. This tool was commissioned by Department of Health and produced by Yorkshire and Humber Public Health Observatory on behalf of the Association of Public Health Observatories.

Differences in Mortality and Life Expectancy between PCTs and within PCTs in the East of England (in DSRs; years). Using mortality and population data from 2001 to 2008, area profiles were generated showing trends in mortality rates and life expectancy by deprivation groups in East of England PCTs.
The profile file includes data and charts for person, males and females; for all age, all cause mortality, premature (under 75) mortality from: all causes, cancer, circ.disease; smoking-attributable mortality, mortality from causes amenable to health care and life expectancy; for the most deprived fifth, the least deprived fifth, for all but the most deprived fifth (80%), the areas as a whole and the region. Three years worth of data are pooled. Relative and absolute gaps for the listed indicators are calculated and tested for their statistical significance.
There will be more resources to follow in January but for information currently available go to the Health Profiles topic page.
